Praia Vermelha is a tiny beach on the foothils of the Sugar beach. Short walking distance from the entrance to Sugar Loaf cable car. Nice spot to relax if you've taken the early morning cable car up to Sugar Loaf. This attraction is located in a charming neighbourhood called ‘Urca’ that can be easily reached through public transportation. As the beach is located in a military zone, it is pretty safe place where you can take good pictures of the cable car and the hills. On the right side of the beach, you can find Circulo Militar da Praia Vermelha, there is a very good restaurant with great variety of dishes. On the left, there is a special trail called "passeio do Bem-te-vi" or 'pista Claudio coutinho', it circles the Morro da Urca, and you can have very special views of the ocean as well as spot monkeys, big blue Butterflies and colorful birds. Praia Vermelha is not usually as busy as Copacabana or Ipanema.
