Zazá Bistro Tropical
Zazá Bistrô is the first contemporary restaurant in Rio de Janeiro, as such it has been successful since 1999. The restaurant offers a combination of many flavors and tastes. The owners label Zazá Bistrô Tropical as a bistro, while others claim it to be a fusion restaurant that caters to Indian, Moroccan, Thai, Japanese and Vegetarian cuisine. The owners get inspiration from their journeys all over the world, in search of interesting scents and flavours. They aim at a healthy nutrition and use organic nutriments whenever possible. In their point of view, eating is more than merely nourishing the body. It is meant for enchanting the senses. The bistro is relatively small so we advise to make a reservation. Upstairs, you can enjoy dinner in the Japanese style with low tables as you sit "shoeless" on soft, comfortable cushions. The ambiance of the upstairs decor has been described as a veritable "Garden of Eden".
Inside an art-filled and whimsically decorated converted house, Zazá serves beautifully prepared dishes with Asian accents, and uses organic ingredients when possible. Recent favorites include grilled squid and octopus with wild rice and lemon confit, flambéed prawns with risotto and grilled namorado served with caramelized plantains. Upstairs, diners lounge on throw pillows amid flickering candles. You can also sit at one of the tables out the front. Great cuisine inspired by Asian flavors and an innovative cocktail menú.
